China has made a significant statement with the release of the ZXMoto 820RR. This triple-cylinder superbike delivers up to 150 horsepower and reaches a claimed top speed of 299 kilometers per hour. Revealed at the CIMA show, the 820RR is offered in three trims and is equipped with electronics and components that rival Japanese and European machines.

The brain behind ZXMoto is Zhang Xue, the founder of the Kove brand. ZXMoto represents his ambition to produce motorcycles that are not only competitive but also capable of winning attention on a global stage. The Brand Story From Kove to ZXMoto

Zhang Xue is no stranger to motorcycle development. After successfully building the Kove brand, he now uses his experience to take ZXMoto into the high-performance segment. ZXMoto aims to deliver motorcycles that can compete with premium Japanese and European sportbikes rather than just budget alternatives.

The success of the 500RR, which has already sold over 10,000 units, provides a strong foundation for ZXMoto to enter the superbike market.

The ZXMoto 820RR features sharp and aggressive styling. The higher trims include carbon parts for a race-ready appearance. Inspired by Japanese and Italian design philosophies, the bike blends edgy lines with premium detailing.

Alongside the faired superbike, ZXMoto also revealed the 820R, a naked version with upright ergonomics and a minimalist front. Though still a concept, it demonstrates ZXMoto’s vision of a complete lineup of triple-cylinder motorcycles.

The Engine

The heart of the 820RR is an 819cc inline-three engine. This configuration strikes a balance between the torque of twins and the high-revving nature of four-cylinder engines.

Peak output reaches 150 horsepower at 13,000 rpm with a torque of 85 Newton meters at 10,500 rpm. The redline sits at 15,250 rpm, and top speed is electronically capped at 299 kilometers per hour. The left-side cam chain is an unusual design in this segment and hints at influences from European performance bikes, though ZXMoto claims it is entirely in-house.

Chassis and Handling

Lightweight engineering is a key focus. The RS trim weighs only 175 kilograms wet, lighter than many European supersports.

The bike features an aluminum perimeter frame, braced swingarm, adjustable forks on the base model, Öhlins suspension on the RS, and Brembo brakes, with GP4 calipers on the RS. These specifications indicate ZXMoto is aiming for real-world agility and high performance rather than just raw power numbers.

Technology and Electronics

The 820RR is a fully modern superbike. It includes all expected high-end electronics such as cornering ABS, traction control, cruise control, and a connected TFT display. This ensures that the 820RR is competitive with global rivals in terms of technology and rider support.

Launch Timeline

ZXMoto plans production to start in late 2025 with first deliveries expected in China during 2026. While there is no confirmed export strategy, the company suggests that overseas markets may follow if the domestic launch succeeds.

Rivals in the Market

The 820RR is aimed at bikes like the MV Agusta F3, Yamaha R7, Kawasaki ZX-6R, and Ducati Supersport. While not directly in the literbike class, it offers comparable performance and premium features that place it in the conversation with established competitors.
